Amber Alexander-Huggins, Registered Clinical Counsellor in South Surrey, BC

Hello

My name is Amber and I'm a heart-centred therapist and student of life. I'm a happily partnered, mid-life mom and bonus mom of four amazing teens/young adults, a spunky senior dog, mischievous kitten, and an ever expanding jungle of plants.

Early experiences of grief are a part of what brought me to the field of counselling. I find that I'm most drawn to work in the areas of human existence that feel most alone, often due to our societies discomfort with them.

I hope that through our work, my clients feel empowered to feel heard and known on their own terms, in their own unique way.

I am honoured by their trust and constantly in awe of the beauty of the humanness I get to witness every day.

Clinical Lens & Approach

My practice is an honest and open place to land and get your bearings.

I work across a lot of different types of issues (early relational trauma, relationship conflict, sexuality & sexual relationships, incident trauma, grief, neurodiverse concerns) in an individual or couples context. I feel drawn specifically to these areas of specialty because of the way our prevailing culture can minimize, overlook, avoid, misattune, and sometimes reject folks working hard to navigate and cope with them.

My way of working is warm and authentic and intended to invite the whole person into the supportive space we create together.  So we start slow, collaborate around how you’d like to work and we pace ourselves to support your nervous system healthfully so that the process of healing doesn’t feel like “going through it” all over again.
