It's Not About Stages

Contrary to what many of us are taught, grief doesn't move through a set sequence of stages.

I think of it as a deeply beautiful and painful process of adjustment.

This adjustment is supported when we have help holding how loss touches our hearts, our lives, and our ongoing need to let go, hold on, or stay connected to what's been lost.

In grief we sometimes need a witness, a sense of what to expect and how to cope. We may also need help recovering from shock or trauma. We can struggle to find a way to understand how life, the self, or relationships have altered after loss.

Whatever your process looks like, your feelings are welcome here.
